COMDEK UGET 2010 NOTIFICATION
COMEDK UGET-2010 exam notification just came out yesterday and you can click here to download the COMEDK UGET-2010 exam notification-cum information brochure. This blog post is being made as COMEDK UGET is a very important entrance exam (which enables you to get admissions in close to 180 Medical, Engineering and Dental institutes in Karnataka).
What is COMEDK UGET?
COMEDK (Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) is a forum of unaided private Medical, Dental, Engineering & Architecture institutes in Karnataka, which organizes entrance exams for these institutes every year for its undergraduate programs (called UGET: Under-Graduate Entrance Test) and postgraduate programs (called PGET: Post-Graduate Entrance Test).
While UGET is held in the month of May, PGET is held in the month of January end/ February beginning. At the last count (in 2009), 177 COMEDK institutes (15 Medical, 28 Dental, 125 Engineering, 9 Architecture) participated in UGET-2009 while 29 COMEDK institutes (9 Medical, 20 Dental) participated in PGET-2009.
In size and scale, COMEDK UGET is just next to another entrance exam in Karnataka called CET (Common Entrance Test), Karnataka – where close to 300 institutes participates (in CET-2009: 33 Medical, 39 Dental, 154 Engineering, 57 Ayurvedic, 10 Homeopathy, 4 Unani and, 4 Naturopathy/Yoga participated).
The difference is while COMEDK UGET is purely for unaided private institutes, CET, Karnataka is mainly for Govt-run institutes, where private (aided/unaided) institutes also participates. But if you have not studied in Karnataka or if either of your parent’s mother tongue is not Kannada, you can not appear in CET, Karnataka.
On the other hand admission through COMEDK UGET is open to all the students across the country. SC/ST/OBC candidates of Karnataka however get relaxations in minimum qualifying %ages as the UGET eligibilities below would show.
COMEDK UGET Eligibilities:

UGET Eligibilities for Engineering (BE):
Minimum 45% aggregate in PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) in Class-XII exam or equivalent (like 2nd PUC) with English as language of study is compulsory.
For SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka minimum aggregate in PCM is relaxed to 40%. Similarly in the Common Entrance Test, you must secured minimum 40% marks in PCB
UGET Eligibilities for Medical (MBBS) & Dental (BDS):
Minimum 50% aggregate in PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in Class-XII exam or equivalent (like 2nd PUC) with English as language of study is compulsory. Also in the Common Entrance Test, you must secured minimum 50% marks in PCB.
For SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka minimum aggregate in PCM is relaxed to 40%.
UGET Eligibilities for Architecture (B. Arch):
Minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for SC/ST/OBC Candidates of Karnataka) in Class-XII exam or equivalent (like 2nd PUC) with Maths as one of the subject or a 10+3 Diploma recognized by Central / State Government.
In addition to above you need to score minimum 80 out of 200 in NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by Council of Architecture.
UGET Age Eligibilities:
Minimum 17 years as on 31/12/2010.
COMEDK UGET Test Pattern:
COMEDK UGET exam pattern consist of three tests:
1.0 Physics and Chemistry paper ( Compulsory for both Medical & Engineering): It has 120 questions (60 questions each in Physics and Chemistry) of 120 marks to be answered in 120 minutes.
2.0 Biology paper (for Medical): It has 60 questions of 60 marks to be answered in 60 minutes.
3.0 Maths paper (for Engineering): It has 60 questions of 60 marks to be answered in 60 minutes.
Questions are of objective type, to be answered in OMR sheet. And there is no negative marking.

COMEDK UGET Test centres:
COMEDK UGET is held in the state of Karnataka only in following 12 COMDEK test centres (as per UGET-2009): Bangalore,Davangere, Mysore, Belgaum, Dharwad, Shimoga, Bellary, Gulbarga, Tumkur, Bijapur, Mangalore, Udupi.
COMEDK UGET Course Fee:
Each COMEDK member institution specifies its own annual course-fee structure. However, the maximum annual fee any institute can charge is Rs.3.25 lakhs for Medical, Rs. 2.30 Lakhs for Dental and Rs.1.25 lakhs for Engineering courses.
How to apply for COMEDK UGET:
If you have the above COMDEK UGET eligibilities, naturally you would like to know how to apply for COMDEK UGET entrance exam.
You can apply to COMDEK UGET only online. But before you apply online for COMDEK UGET, you must procure the DD (Demand Draft) for the COMDEK UGET application fee as below:
1. If you wish to appear in either of PCM (for BE) or PCB (for MBBS): Rs. 700/=
2. If you wish to appear in PCMB (i.e. for both BE & MBBS): Rs. 900/=
The above COMDEK UGET application fee should be paid in the form of a DD drawn in favour of “COMEDK”, payable at “Bangalore”.
