WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKS
(Common to Embedded Systems, Digital Systems & Computer
Electronics, Digital Electronics & Communication Systems, and
Wireless and Mobile Communications)

Answer any Five questions
All questions carry equal marks

1.(a)  Explain about trunking and grade  of service.
(b)  A certain city has an area of 1,300  square miles and is covered by
a cellular system with a seven cell reuse pattern.  Each cell has a
radius of 4 miles and city is allocated  40mHz of spectred with a
full duplex channel bandwidth of  60KHz.  Assume GOS of 2% FOR
Er long B system.  If offered traffic per user is 0.03 erlongs
compute
(i)  Number of cells in the service area
(ii)  Total number of channels per cell.  If erlong B chart gives at
Gos = 0.02 and C = 95, traffic intensity of each cell A = 84
Erlong cell.  Then find
(iii)   Maximum carried traffic
(iv)  Total number of uses at 2% GOS
(v)  Number of mobiles per unique channel
(vi)  Theroritical maximum number of mobiles served at one time.

2. Explain about
(a)  TDMA    (b)  SDMA

3.  Explain about the routing of traffic, and limitations in wireless
Networking.  What are third generation wireless Network.

4.  With diagram explain the common channel signaling (CCS)
Network Architecture based on SS7.
Explain about CCS and distributed central switching office for
CCS.

5. Explain about
Wireless application protocol(WAP) with diagrams of
(a)  WAP Protocal stach
(b)  WAP Programming model
(c)  WAP infrastructure

6.(a) Draw and explain the various fields in a IEEE 802.11 MAC frame.

(b) Explain about IEEE 802.11 Physical layer.

7.(a) Give an usage model for Bluetooth.
(b) Explain about link security specification between two Bluetooth
devices.

8. Write short notes on:
(a) data oriented CDPD Networks
(b) Mobile application protocol.
